There are only two real complaints about this release – and they are relatively small compared to the amount of quality that the DVD provides. The first is the fact that after Scenes 5, 11 and 17, the action gets interrupted by commercials for phone sex lines. Fortunately, you can easily jump past the commercials with a “next chapter” click on the remote. The second complaint is that the title doesn’t run a total of four hours (as the box cover declares) – the actual running time is 3 hours and 40 minutes...which is impressive, but still 20-minutes short of four hours. Since the majority of scenes were shot on film, the quality of the video here isn’t the best but does equal the quality you’ll find on the actual DVD releases of these movies. The audio fares better, providing a nice mix between dialogue and soundtrack, even though only presented in 2.0 Dolby. Given the running time of the main presentation, there’s not a lot of room for bonus material on this DVD, but viewers will get a slide show and some trailers, as well as the ability to jump to the chapter of their choice – although sadly the chapter selection does not give a picture or any text of what is in the scene – so you’ll have to use this review as your guide! Despite needing a few tweaks here and there, this Vivid comp is quite impressive – especially if you don’t own any of the movies that make up this release.
