Hands down, VCA is consistently one of the best companies putting out adult DVDs on the market. They always have terrific audio-visual quality, nice packaging and design, solid extras and features, and the hottest starlets in the biz. Whether it's a classic flick or a new release, you're always going to get maximum bang for the buck from them. "The Top 25 Adult Stars of All Time" is another winner from the studio. It's a compilation of scenes devoted to - no surprise here - 25 of the best porno performers (male and female) from the '70s through today. Now, it goes without saying that every fan is going to have a different Top 25 List from this one, will disagree with some choices, will support others, etc. Porn director/historian Jim Holliday hosts the comp with blonde beauty Jill Kelly. You can either play the entire four hours straight through, or you can go through a special menu that maps out the featured stars and then choose one to see his/her scene. Before the each clip of fucking begins, you get a little intro by Jim and Jill. Jim's got an encyclopedic knowledge of porn, and it's great (for, ahem, "historical purposes") to own this disc just to have his wealth of information at your fingertips. But if they bore you, or if Jim starts getting on your nerves, you can just skip forward and get to the sexing. All hail the wonders of DVD! But you wanna know who's number one, right? The two scenes from "Insatiable" that are highlighted here are proof, particularly her incredible, classic tryst with mega-man John C. Holmes. When you see her get that length in her ass without missing a beat, you know you're in the presence of superstardom. Everybody else is listed in no particular order, but the ranks run the gamut from the "Golden Age" (Annette Haven, Georgina Spelvin, Veronica Hart) to the contemporary (Jeanna Fine, Victoria Paris); the legendary (Ginger Lynn, Seka, Vanessa Del Rio, Amber Lynn) to the wrongfully forgotten (Erica Boyer, Lesllie Bovee); the beautiful (Christy Canyon) to the, well, not-so-beautiful-yet-undeniably-historically-important (Ron Jeremy, Sharon Mitchell). This is a whopping amount of material, 26 scenes in all (that's counting some "bonus" ones that were tagged on for certain stars). The number three starlet, Seka, is a total standout when she gets a hot double facial from Holmes and Jamie Gillis after a well-choreographed blow-n-bang. Her incredible rack is one of the true wonders of the world. Ron Jeremy gets it on with the ever enthusiastic Tianna in one scene, and classy Lili Marlene in the other. Other standouts are Amber Lynn taking two cocks in her pussy in "The Devil in Miss Jones 3," Ginger Lynn getting DP'd in "New Wave Hookers" (one of the greatest moments in porn, in my opinion, although her classic cocksucking was lopped off here), and Peter North's unforgettable Vesuvius-like cumshot on Tori Welles in "Chameleon". Honestly, you can't go wrong with this disc. This celebration of carnal luminaries is nothing short of stellar in its selection of talent and its overall presentation. You get footage that was shot on both film and video, and it all looks and sounds great. This DVD has a fair amount of extras: an optional audio commentary by Jim and Jill, four previews and five promo blurbs for other releases, web info, and an optional menu for selecting scenes based on the films that they're from. Not quite as extensive as most top of the line efforts, but hey, you get four hours of straight porn product here, so quit complaining. Do yourself a favor and pick this title up. You won't regret it. |
